RRP / TRP40 — reclaimed rubber plasticiser
A semi-solid plasticiser made from recovered tyre rubber. It softens and mixes like a process oil, but it carries rubber into the compound — so cost comes out without the physicals coming down with it.
Most compounders reach for aromatic or naphthenic process oil to bring Mooney down and get filler dispersed. RRP does the same softening job, but it is rubber — reclaimed, de-vulcanised tyre rubber processed to a semi-solid paste. Part of the oil comes out of the recipe, part of the polymer load is shared, and the compound still lands where your specification says it should.
How much of the oil can actually come out? Up to 50% in most compounds — the share depends on your base polymer, filler loading and which property you have to hold. Read the full technical note on process-oil replacement.
The commercial argument is simple: process oil is priced off crude, and moves with it. RRP is priced off recovered tyre rubber. When oil runs up, your compound cost does not have to follow it in the same proportion.
How it goes in. RRP is added at the mixing stage in place of a share of the process oil, normally as a straight partial substitution. The right share depends on your base polymer, filler loading and cure system, so we start every customer with a trial quantity and a recommended starting point, then adjust after the first batch results.
RRP is supplied in 10 kg EVA bags. The bag goes into the mixer with the charge, which keeps handling clean and avoids weighing a sticky material by hand.

- Tyre compounds — sidewall, inner liner and carcass mixes where oil loading is high
- Retreading and tread rubber compounds
- Technical rubber goods: hoses, belting, moulded parts
- Footwear and sheet compounds
- Any compound where process-oil cost has become the swing factor

In most compounds the effect is small, but it is never zero — that is exactly why we supply a trial quantity first. Tell us the application and the property targets you have to hold — no formulation details needed — and we will suggest a starting dosage and what to watch on the rheograph.
How much process oil can it replace?
It depends on the base polymer, filler loading and the properties you must hold. We recommend a conservative starting substitution for the first trial and move up from there on your own results.
Is it PAH and REACH compliant?
Yes. RRP is REACH and PAH compliant, which is why it is accepted in export compounds as well as domestic ones.
What documentation comes with it?
Batch-wise test values from our in-house laboratory and a COA with every consignment. Datasheets and compliance declarations are shared on enquiry.
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes. Sample and single-pallet trials are normal for RRP and we prefer customers start that way.
